This is a great hotel! It's very quaint & comfortable @ a reasonable price. ($48.75 tax included) per night. The rooms make you feel like your at home onstead of the "hotel feel" I'm looking forward to using them again for future visits. It's in the better part of Vandalia. (Thank goodness)

While work takes me to the Audrain County a lot this was my first stay at theVandalia Hotel. I was welcomed by the owners at my arrival and my room was great. If your tired at staying at the same old chain hotel, try Vandalia’ own little charm. Very comfy beds and cleaner than the big chains miles and mikes away! Jim highly rates them with 5 stars.

The Vandalia Hotel felt like a hidden surprise! I didn’t expect to find such a charming hotel in a little town, but the hotel felt almost magical! Incredibly memorable place, and I had a very comfortable stay. I would highly recommend staying and observing the space- there’s so many interesting pieces of artwork and furniture inside the hotel!

No fuss, small hotel. I had one of the most luxurious nights sleep I can remember. Owner was accommodating and extremely friendly. Although we stayed only one night, it was exactly what we were looking for and budget friendly. I will likely be booking again at some point in the future.

I love this place. I work nearby and live out of town, so I have stayed here a lot. The owners have bent over backwards to make my stays pleasant. The place dates back to 1905, so, yes, I have to wait a bit for the room to cool down or heat up, in summer and winter respectively, when I first get there, but once done, it stays pretty well where I want it. The room I usually stay in has a pretty powerful window air conditioner and space heater, both of which are controlled by the tenant. It has a comfortable bed and a private bathroom with a good shower, as well as a cold fridge and The rates are quite reasonable. And in the spring, summer and fall, there’s a wonderful porch, loaded with flowers (the owner has an amazing green thumb) and a few rocking chairs. Makes for a very pleasant place to sit and drink your coffee in the morning or a refreshing drink in the afternoon or evening. There’s a really cute restaurant that is currently open only for private parties and/or special occasions. If I had a wish list, it would be that the restaurant be open more regularly. The owners say that may happen eventually. It would be the icing on a very nice cake.

We were traveling through, it was getting late, and we wanted to stop for the night. We called to check availability. Connie turned on the AC in our room prior to our arrival and was waiting for us at the front desk. After we returned from eating a late dinner, we really enjoyed sitting on the porch. You could see so many stars, even with the ambient light from the street lamps. Our bed was VERY comfortable and we slept well. We also appreciated that the mini fridge in our room had an icebox. We were able to refreeze our ice packs for the next day's travel. Our room did not have its own bath, but the bathroom was right next to us, so it was not an issue. I know other rooms do have private baths. I also enjoyed looking at a decorating book from the upstairs sitting area. This is a cool old hotel and we would stay here again.

I managed to find this hotel by doing a search. I called and talked to the owner named Connie and she was a lovely lady. I needed to stay only one night but I couldn't climb the stairs to a room because I was getting ready for a total knee replacement. She graciously offered me a downstairs apartment that they don't usually rent out. It was beautiful and very reasonable. When I arrived, Jim, Connie's husband was sitting on the beautiful front porch. These folks are very kind and helpful. You will love the atmosphere of this place that was built in 1906. It is very elegant. They just bought it a short time ago and have big plans. I wish them well. I would definitely recommend it.
